The National Medical College stopped Ramji, who is studying MBBS on a scholarship, from taking the exam

Kathmandu. The National Medical College has deprived a student studying on a scholarship of MBBS fourth year annual examination for not paying extra fees. Ramji Ram of Rautahat was expelled from the examination hall for not paying the additional fee in the annual examination which started on Monday.
Despite the Medical Education Commission and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) directing Ram to take part in the exam, the National Medical College did not pay the extra fee and he was expelled from the exam hall, Ram told Swasthya Khabar. “I was studying at the expense of the government, but the National Medical College asked me for extra fees,” said Ram. The National Medical College has demanded an additional fee of Rs. 750,131 from him.
Ram had been studying MBBS at the National Medical College in 2072 BS at the expense of the government. But the college started pressuring him to stay in the hostel and bear the cost. Ram has already paid additional fee of Rs 811,000. But the college has again deprived him of taking the exam saying that he has to pay additional fee of Rs. 750,131.
He had earlier paid for the hostel with the help of friends and medical students, but said he did not have the money to pay for college. “Even before, they had to pay Rs 811,000 for hostel expenses,” said Ram. “Now, they have asked for more than Rs 7 lakh as annual fee. IOM Dean Dr Divya Singh Shaw informed that the incident would be investigated. “We are investigating the fact as to why the medical college has deprived him of the examination,” she said.
